This bronze medallion commemorates the German sinking of the British passenger ship the Lusitania by a German U-boat during WW1. It was produced as British propaganda to show how ruthless the Germans were to sink a passenger ship, subsequently it has been proved that as well as civilian passengers it was also carrying weaponry for the war effort. Steel hilt, the rifle slot is still in good working order. The brown wooden grip plates are in perfect condition. The blade is in excellent condition and has various makers marks, Remington factory stamp, US mark and it is also dated 1917. WW1 SCOTTISH BASKET HILT BROADSWORD BELONGING TO CAPTAIN HAY OF THE CAMERON HIGHLANDERS.

Large silver basket hilt of the Scottish style still retaining the red insert liner, the handle is covered with fish skin, large ornate silver pommel. The blade is double etched but it does show some age spotting, the upper portion of the sword bears a factory presentation inscription to, Captain J.Hay of the cameron Highlanders, the inscription is now worn and faint but can be seen if careful...  read more

SWISS SCHMIDT RUBIN SAWBACK PIONEER BAYONET.

This is a very long massive bayonet and it is the 1914 model. Factory blued hilt, the bayonet slot is in good working order, the crossguard is stamped with an issue number.
