GERMAN FIRE SERVICE OFFICERS DAGGER.
A difficult dagger to find and this example dates to the 1920's or possibly the early 1930's and could certainly have been worn during the Third Reich. Fine detail to the silver flame ball pommel, attractive simple silver crossguard. The black wire bound grip is in fine condition. The attractive blade is double etched with long floral panels which also includes fire fighters ladders and axes, the blade is stamped with the WKC knights head trade mark. Black leather scabbard is in excellent condition and it is fitted with matching nickel silver mounts which are held in place by a metal staple on the reverse side of each fitting. A very nice example of a scarce dagger. [Condition: Exc++]
RLB 2ND MODEL MANS DAGGER BY ERNST WITTE.
The silver pommel and crossguard retain almost all silver plated finish with fine detail to the RLB eagle. The black wooden grip is in perfect condition and it is complete with the 2nd pattern RLB swastika badge, there is a small insignificant chip to the black enamel of the swastika but it is small and hardly worth mentioning especially as most seem to have this issue. The blade is really nice, it has some very faint age spotting but again it is very minor, the reverse side is etched with the makers details, Ernst Witte Solingen, the etched name is very faint which is a feature of this maker as they are normally always very faint. The scabbard retains almost all original black paint and it is fitted with silver plated scabbard fitting. Complete with black leather hanger, the clip is in working order and it is marked on the reverse side with the Assmann capital A and DRGM. A very nice RLB dagger, it will be difficult to find a nicer example. Exc++

SS CHAINED OFFICERS DAGGER 1936 MODEL.
This dagger comes from a grouping of 10 that I purchased privately and it has never been in a collection. This in an early production example of the SS chained leaders dagger which has been worn and it does have some condition issues. All early nickel silver fittings which puts it amongst the very first chained daggers to be issued in the1936/37 period. All early nickel silver hilt fittings have a superb age patina as it has never been cleaned. The black ebony grip is complete with the SS runic badge and silver eagle, there is one chip to the grip on the obverse side just under the upper crossguard. The blade features the SS motto to the obverse side, the reverse side is plain with out a makers name which is correct for the SS chained dagger, the blade does show extensive spotting and age but the motto can still be clearly seen and the blade is bright and it could certainly be improved by carful cleaning. The scabbard is the black painted type but it shows age wear to the paint finish, all metal scabbard fittings are matching nickel silver and just like the hilt fitting they have a really attractive age patina, the centre mount features six linked swastikas. The chained hanger is type 2, the clover leaf spring clip is in working order and the reverse side of one of the links has the SS Kulturzeichen stamp, the small upper metal link left hand side that attaches to the clover leaf is an old replacement but it is not obvious and it is from the period, it was almost certainly replaced by the original owner, the Skulls and SS runic links are matching nickel silver and the smaller connecting links are a combination of nickel and steel, it is possible that the steel links are old war time replacements or the dagger was made with a combination of both, it is very difficult to know for certain. I do not believe that the dagger has ever been taken apart and certainly not by me. Bargain price for a very desirable early issued chained SS dagger, if the condition was better it would be priced close on 10k. Exc
WW1 BRITISH OFFICERS TROPICAL ISSUE SWAGGER STICK WITH RARE CONCEALED BLADE.
This is a most unusual high quality example with intricate woven leather covering as would have been carried by a British officer serving in the tropics and it is the first time I have seen this intricate woven covering. Pulling the handle away from the staff reveals a 14 inch or 35cm long lethal blade, the blade has a decorative engraved design. Exc++
ANTIQUE SWORD STICK BELONGING TO JAMES ORBELL OF NEWMARKET, FARMER AND SOLDIER.
Fine quality malacca wooden stick with staghorn handle, pulling the handle away from the stick reveals a long lethal steel blade. The collar of the stick is fitted with a silver collar which is engraved with the original owners details, James Orbell Newmarket, fitted into the staghorn handle is another much smaller blade, most unusual and the first time I have seen this. James Orbell was born in Denston near Newmarket in 1876 , his father was a farmer at Church farm at Denston Near Newmarket but unfortunately he died in 1878, his wife continued at the farm and she employed 8 men and 4 boys to work on the farm, James lived on the farm with his mother and his brothers and sisters. His mother then remarried in 1881 but in 1895 she was admitted to the Woodbridge asylum suffering with suicidal tendencies and she died there in 1901. After leaving school James worked with his stepfather on the farm. In about 1900 James Orbell enlisted into the City of London Imperial Volunteers and then transferred into the 2nd Essex Rifles and eventfully into Young Husbands Horse serving in South Africa and he received at least two awards. He seems to have left the army several times over the years probably to return to the farm but then re-enlisted. In 1914 he re-enlisted yet again at Canterbury and served with the Royal Sussex Regiment and then the East Kent Yeomanry, he was killed in action on Saturday the 9th of September 1916 on the Somme aged 40. Complete with some research concerning this farmer / soldier, a most unusual sword stick with a fascinating military history. Exc++

The organisation was established in 1916 although the swastika was removed from the design latter on, the organisation continued into the 1970\'s when it was finally disbanded. The reverse side is fitted with pin and hook and it is maker marked. No damage just slight age wear. The swastika was used on many items in the late Victorian and early 20th century as a good luck symbol. Near mint.
