Steel hilt, the rifle slot is still in good working order. The brown wooden grip plates are in perfect condition. The blade is in excellent condition and has various makers marks, Remington factory stamp, US mark and it is also dated 1917. WW1 SCOTTISH BASKET HILT BROADSWORD BELONGING TO CAPTAIN HAY OF THE CAMERON HIGHLANDERS.

Large silver basket hilt of the Scottish style still retaining the red insert liner, the handle is covered with fish skin, large ornate silver pommel. The blade is double etched but it does show some age spotting, the upper portion of the sword bears a factory presentation inscription to, Captain J.Hay of the cameron Highlanders, the inscription is now worn and faint but can be seen if careful...  read more

This is a very long massive bayonet and it is the 1914 model. Factory blued hilt, the bayonet slot is in good working order, the crossguard is stamped with an issue number.
