SS POLICE BIRTHDAY GREETINGS CARDS TO GAULEITER HOFER.
Interesting pair of birthday greeting cards which are similar, the first card features superb SS police art work for the Scherlander SS Police Regiment and sends birthday greetings to the Gauleiter. The second card also sends birthday greetings to the Gauleiter from the SS Police Regiment Schlanders and it is ink signed by the Regiment commander an SS Obersturmbannfuhrer. This Police Regiment was formed in 1944 from men of South Tyrol, the district of Gauleite Franz Hofer, the Gauleiter was born on the 27,11.1902 so in 1944 he would be 42 years old confirming the details on the card.. Gauleiter Franz Hofer joined the Austrian NSDAP in 1931 and rose quickly in rank and by July1932 he was already deputy Gauleiter and by November 1932 he was the Gauleiter of the Tyrol. In June 1935 he was arrested by the Austrian police and he was sentenced to 30 months in prison, but only a few months latter four armed SA men freed him from jail and he fled the prison under gunfire from prison guards, he was wounded but still managed to escape to Germany and actually gave a speech on a stretcher at the 1935 Nurnberg rally. in 1937 Hoffer became leader of the Austrian party members living in Germany. After the Anschluss of Austria in 1938 Adolf Hitler awarded Hoffer by making him the Gauleiter of the Tyrol for the second time and in 1939 he became a General of the NSKK. After the war turned against Germany Hoffer Suggested to the Fuhrer that his district should become an Alpine fortress, Hitler was keen on the idea but by the time action was taken it was really to late but the idea certainly concerned the Allied commander as the war could have continued for much longer as it would have been very difficult to occupy the area. Hoffer Surrendered to the American forces in 1945. Franz Hofer died in 1975. Neat mint.
SS ROHM HONOUR DAGGER BY KLASS.
This rare SS dagger features the Rohm inscription with just Rohms name removed. All early nickel silver fittings, the lower crossguard reverse side is marked III which is the SS distribution mark for Munich. The blade has some old age spotting and marks but it is still bright and still in over all good condition, the obverse side features the SS motto, the reverse side displays the very rare Rohm inscription, in cordial comradeship with just Rohm\'s name removed and the remainder of the inscription is complete and even parts of the letters of Rohms name can still be seen, the maker of this rare dagger is Robert Klass Solingen and it features there small trade mark which was only used on the Rohm dagger, (standard Klass SS dagger feature the large trade mark), the makers trade mark is about 80% complete, the very top has been removed during the blade grinding process. Black anodised scabbard with matching nickel silver mounts. Only 9900 SS Rohm honours dagger were awarded in 1934, on the the 30th of June Rohm was declared a traitor and shortly after that he was executed, the Reichfuhrer SS Heinrich Himnmler then ordered his SS members who had been awarded the dagger to remove the Rohm inscription from the blade by grinding, almost all happily complied and removed the complete inscription but a few removed just the name, which makes the dagger very rare. Not a mint SS dagger but still very nice and certainly extremely rare and missing from even the most advanced collection, an SS Rohm dagger with a complete Rohm inscription would cost approcamatly 20k but that is if you could even find one so this is very realistic price for such a rare dagger. SS DOCUMENT WITH ORIGINAL HEINRICH HIMMLER INK SIGNATURE.
Official SS document on Reichsfuhrer SS headed notepaper and dated 12.11,1938 with superb Himmler ink signature . The document was sent by Himmler to the Reichsminister for Justice ( Franz Gurtner). The document concerns some missing documents that had been taken by the SS, the Vienna Gestapo has informed the Reichsfuhrer that they have now been returned to the Austrian department of the Justice Ministry. Complete with English translation of the document. Heinrich Himmler is a difficult and very desirable signature to find especially when on his personal letter headed notepaper. The document has been folded in the past as you would expect but other than that it is in near mint condition.

HITLER YOUTH LEADERS DAGGER BY HORSTER.
The silver wire wrapped grip is in very nice condition. The pommel is held in place by two metal side pins and the top of the pommel features the HJ diamond with swastika. The simple plain aluminium crossguard still retain traces of the silver plating but most is worn away with age which is what you normally see with this model dagger. The blade is in near mint condition and it is very impressive, the obverse side features the Hitler Youth motto, BLUT UND EHRE which translates to, Blood and Honour. The reverse side of the blade is etched RZM M7/36 which is the makers code for Horster Solingen (Horster and Eickhorn were the only authorised makers for the HJ leaders dagger), this really is an exceptional blade which probably could not be improved. Complete with black leather scabbard with three silver metal mounts, the top mount features the HJ eagle with swastika on its breast, the silver fittings show some slight loss of silver plating but they are at least 90% complete which is a lot better than most. A very difficult dagger to find. Exc++
GERMAN NAVAL OFFICERS DAGGER 1919/1921 MODEL.
This dagger dates from the early 1920\'s so it is not a Third Rich dagger but it is certainly very rare. Black bone grip is in mint condition. German Weimar republic flame ball pommel shows much detail and some original gilt finish, the top of the pommel is peened over so it cannot be taken apart. The crossguard features the anchor to the obverse side, the reverse side features the flower design with central release button which you often see on these early daggers. The blade is plain and with out a maker name and it is in excellent condition, it is almost certainly an imperial naval blade that was factory shortened in 1919 as the imperial blades were often much longer. These 1919 naval daggers were originally issued with a black bayonet type scabbard but in 1921 these bayonet scabbard were discarded for the new brass type scabbard. This gilt brass scabbard is the lighting bolt type with the early style figure of eight rope bands, these 1921 scabbards are slightly longer than the earlier 1919 type and it what you expect to see. The German navy was very small at this time and so the naval officers daggers are rare. Exc++
SS CHAINED LEADERS DAGGER, 1936 MODEL.
The SS officers dagger is probably the most desirable of all German daggers and no collection is complete with out at least one example. This is an early example produced in nickel silver and probably dates to 1936 / 37 period. The nickel silver hilt fitting are in fine condition. The black ebony grip is in excellent condition and it is inset with SS runic badge and silver eagle, there are a few small flakes to the grip close the the lower crossguard but they are very minor and cannot really been seen until the silver knot is lifted to closely examine the grip. The blade displays the SS motto to the obverse side and is plain on the reverse side without a makers name which is correct for the 36 model chained dagger, the blade has some faint age marks but it is still very bright and impressive. The scabbard retains about 90% original black paint, most of the wear is to the reverse side, the scabbard fittings are matching nickel silver and the central mount is decorated with six linked swastikas and the mount is held in place by a single screw, slight dent to the ball of the lower fitting. The scabbard is fitted with the type two chained hanger, the links are decorated with skulls and SS runes, the reverse side of one of the links is stamped with the SS kulturzeichen stamp, the clip is still in good working order. Complete with black leather belt loop and silver bullion knot which shows some oxidation to the acorn but no damage, silver knots could be worn if the owner was a member of the Waffen SS or SD. The dagger is in good collectable condition and these early nickel silver chained SS leaders daggers are very hard to find. Exc++
