LUFTWAFFE 1ST MODEL DAGGER BY VERY RARE AUSTRIAN MAKER ZEITLER COMLETE WITH HANGER AND KNOT.
This very nice example was produced in the late 1930's or the early 1940's and it is produced by the Austrian maker Zeitler of Vienna which is a very rare maker to find as they did not start production of Third Reich daggers until after the Austrian Anschluss of 1938, up until then they produced edged weapons for the Austrian armed forces. I have owned a couple of 2nd model Luftwaffe daggers by Zeitler in the past but this is the first example of a 1st model dagger that I have owed or even seen in over 35 years as a dealer and collector. All silver plated fittings are in fine condition, the swastikas still retain almost all gilt finish and the gilt is nicely subdued with age. Blue leather grip is in fine condition. The blade is in near mint condition with just a few scratches and it stamped with the makers name , ZEITLER WIEN. Complete with scabbard which still retains all blue leather and it is fitted with matching silver plated fittings. Complete with silver knot and aluminium chain hanger which is correct for a dagger of this vintage, the clip is in good working order and it is marked on the reverse side, Ges Gesch OLC. A very nice dagger by an ultra rare maker. Exc++ or better
