EARLY VICTORIAN NAVAL OFFICERS SWORD.

EARLY VICTORIAN NAVAL OFFICERS SWORD.

This very nice British naval officers sword dates to about 1850 / 1860. Highly detailed lions head pommel, the hand guard features the fouled anchor and the Victorian crown, the folding guard on the reverse side is the early style with out the locking pin. Fish skin grip is in excellent condition with just one tiny crack under the hilt but it is not a problem and it is what you would expect with a sword of this age. The blade is double etched with naval designs and also the Victorian crown and Royal coat of arms, the sword is also maker marked, Mackay & Co, 120 New Bond street, London and it also has an inset proof mark. The blade shows some light age wear but over all it is still very nice. Complete with black leather scabbard with three brass mounts, the center mount is plain but the upper and lower mounts are both decorated, the upper mount also has two suspension rings which is only normally seen on British naval swords of early vintage. GOLD PARTY BADGE OF THE NSDAP, SPECIAL ADOLF HITLER AWARD FOR 1943 WITH UNIQUE DATE.

GOLD PARTY BADGE OF THE NSDAP, SPECIAL ADOLF HITLER AWARD FOR 1943 WITH UNIQUE DATE.

This is an example of the very rare Adolf Hitler special award honour gold party badge with his AH initials and date of the award to the reverse side of the badge rather than the standard type with the owners party membership number, this example is even more unusual as it features a unique presentation date. This is a large 30mm example, the obverse side is the standard format of gilt oakleaves wreath with enamel NSDAP badge to center which is in perfect condition. The reverse side features the military style pin and hook and is marked GES GESCH in a box with air vent hole, below this is the unique date 15.5.1943 with the AH initials, most of the specially presented Adolf Hitler gold party badge's will have a January 30th award date, it is very unusual to see a different month and day date and probably less than 5% will feature this. The date possibly refers to a military event, a meeting with Adolf Hitler, promotion or a Birthday but i have not been able to identify which, the Warsaw Jewish ghetto uprising was crushed and the survivors surrender on the 16.5.1943 so that might be significant. Further research is required to hopefully identify the original owner and it will certainly make an interesting reserch project. Other than the date this is a standard example of the special AH award badge and it is in superb condition. [Condition: Near Mint]

BRITISH WW1 PERIOD ARMY OFFICERS RANK STICK WITH CONCEALED BLADE.

BRITISH WW1 PERIOD ARMY OFFICERS RANK STICK WITH CONCEALED BLADE.

All British officers carried a short leather bound stick but a few opted to obtain private purchase examples concealing a long lethal steel blade which in trench warfare during WW1 would have been very handy especially when most officers only carried a service revolver. Intricate leather woven and bound handle and shaft, when pulling the handle away from the body of the stick a long lethal steel double edged blade is revealed, it is not maker marked but it does have some simple decoration to the upper part of the blade. A rare fascinating and desirable item. [Condition: Exc++]
