Brass lions head hilt in fine condition, the crossguard features the naval anchor with Royal crown above. The white fish skin grip is in fine condition. The hilt / scabbard locking fitting is still in perfect working order. The blade is double etched and features two long floral panels which feature crowned anchor, George the 5th Royal cypher and also a presentation panel with original owners initials, DHCC, the blade is also etched with makers details but they are very lightly etched and so difficult to decipher but the maker appears to be Geives of London, the blade shows some light age spotting but over all it is still in extremely nice condition. Complete with matching scabbard in fine condition, black leather shell with brass fittings, the reverse side of the upper fitting is also engraved with the original owners initials and it is also fitted with an unusual metal badge featuring naval anchor with crossed flags, what this signify's i am not sure but possibly a naval position or specialty. GERMAN WATER PROTECTION POLICE LEADERS DAGGERS BY EICKHORN.

GERMAN WATER PROTECTION POLICE LEADERS DAGGERS BY EICKHORN.

The Third Reich Water Protection Police Leaders dagger is one of the hardest standard production daggers to find, in over 30 years this is only the 3rd example I have offered for sale. The flame ball pommel is the Eickhorn pattern and still retains some original gilt finish as does the matching crossguard. The dark blue leather grip is in excellent condition showing just light age, correctly pined to the grip is the aluminum police eagle and swastika, the insignia still retains much original gilt finish. The blade is by Eickhorn Solingen and is double etched with the normal fouled anchor design, the blade shows some minor age spotting but over all this is still a very nice blade. Matching lightning bolt scabbard is in over all excellent condition and still retains some original gilt finish. Complete with original silver portepee knot which has been on the dagger for ever and has almost welded its self into place, the lower cord which is attached to the acorn has been repaired but a very long time ago possibly by the original owner. Most collectors except that there are only two manufactures of this model dagger, Eickorn and Alcoso, the example I am offering is a text book Eickhorn example with everything you would expect to see on an original example. This dagger comes direct from the family of the British soldier who obtained the dagger in 1945 and has not been in a collection before.[Condition: Exc+]
