SS 1933 MODEL DAGGER BY EICKHORN COMPLETE WITH VERTICAL HANGER.

SS 1933 MODEL DAGGER BY EICKHORN COMPLETE WITH VERTICAL HANGER.

This is an extremely early example dating from early 1934 and featuring the Eickhorn large oval trade mark which was discontinued a few months after it was introduced when the small oval trademark started to come into production. All early nickel silver fittings, the lower crossguard is district stamped on the reverse side with Roman numeral I, the underside of the lower crossguard is also stamped with bench mark 1 which is something you often see with early production Eickhorn daggers , the interior crossguard's are stamped with the foundry mark HE which again is often seen on early Eickhorn daggers. The grip is the typical Eickhorn style and it is in fine condition, it is inset with silver eagle and SS insignia. The blade is in mint condition, the obverse side features the SS motto and the reverse side is etched with the large oval Eickhorn Solingen trademark, the blade still retains most of its crossgrain. Black anodised scabbard which still retains much of the factory protective finish and it is fitted with matching nickel silver fittings, the lower ball has a slight dent but it is very minor and hardly worth mentioning. Complete with SS vertical hanger which is a matching early example with early type metal clip, the interior of the leather hanger is SS RZM stamped but it is now worn and difficult to read. Exc++

WW1 GERMAN ARMY DMAG CRANK HANDLE FIGHTING KNIFE.

WW1 GERMAN ARMY DMAG CRANK HANDLE FIGHTING KNIFE.

This is a very good example that has obviously seen a lot of actual combat use. Blued steel crank handle with riffle fitting to the hilt so the knife can be fitted to a riffle, the riffle slot is still in perfect working order. The crossguard has been slightly reduced in size almost certainly by the original owner and probably to make it more easy to handle in combat. The blade shows some slight age spotting, it is marked DEMAG DUISBURG & the obverse side is stamped DRGM, the blade has been very slightly reduced in size and to a needle point, the edges of the blade have been lightly sharpened to make it even more lethal in combat. Complete with black painted scabbard which is fitted with a black leather belt loop which shows a fair bit of wear, the grip retaining strap was removed a long time ago. A fascinating WW1 German combat knife that must have had an interesting history. [Condition: Exc+]
