SA DAGGER 1933 MODEL BY VERY RARE MAKER WERTH.

SA DAGGER 1933 MODEL BY VERY RARE MAKER WERTH.

This is the first example of an SA dagger by Werth that I have owned, it is extremely rare. All early nickel silver fittings have nice age patina as it has not been cleaned for a long time, the lower crossguard reverse side is SA group marked No for the SA group Nordsee. The brown wooden grip is in excellent condition and it is complete with SA badge and silver eagle. The blade is very bright and attractive, the obverse side features the the SA motto and the reverse side is maker mark, A.Werth Solingen which is a very rare maker and is rated a 10 on the SA scale, the company only produced 1000 SA daggers and they actually specialised in fencing swords. Brown anodised scabbard shows light age and wear and it is complete with matching nickel silver mounts. Complete with SA hanger. Exc++

THIRD REICH ARMY OFFICERS LEOPARD HEAD SWORD.

THIRD REICH ARMY OFFICERS LEOPARD HEAD SWORD.

Early quality gilt brass hilt with excellent detail to the leopard head which is fitted with red glass eyes, the crossguard features a large open wing eagle and swastika which is very impressive. Tiny hairline crack to the black celluloid grip just under the lions head but it is tiny and hardly worth mentioning as it is very hard to see, the grip is fitted with single strand twisted grip wire. The blade is in near mint condition but it is not maker marked but from the hilt design the maker is Richard Herder. Complete with scabbard that retains about 80% original black paint. Not mint but still a very nice sword and leopard heads are hard to find. Exc+

SS OFFICERS SWORD BELONGING TO SS OBERSTURMFUHRER VON FREHBERG.

SS OFFICERS SWORD BELONGING TO SS OBERSTURMFUHRER VON FREHBERG.

The nickel silver hilt is in fine condition and the back strap is engraved with the original owners SS membership number which is SS 13132, the pommel is the unique SS style that screws into the hilt of the sword and not the blade tang (police swords the pommel always screws on to the blade tang). The grip is in mint condition and it is fitted with large circular silver SS runic badge, the background still retains the blued factory finish. The underside of the hilt is stamped with the SS Kulturzeichen acceptance stamp. The blade is in near mint condition and it is maker marked Krebs Solingen which is one of the excepted makers for the SS degen, the others are PMD or unmarked with out a makers name. The sword is fitted with a white blade buffer pad, white buffer pads are often seen on SS swords. The scabbard retains 95% original black paint, the lower fitting is held in place by pressure and is what you hope to see on an SS officers sword rather than screws which is the style you normally see on a police officers sword, the top silver fitting is in fine condition and the throat is stamped with the SS kulturzeichen stamp. Complete with black leather sword hanger and black and silver bullion sword knot with the SS runes to the stem. Wolfgang Von Frehberg was born on the 13.12.1910, he was a member of the NSDAP with membership number 219063 which probably puts his date of entry at about 1930, his SS membership number was 13132, he was promoted to officer rank on the 20.4.1935 with the rank of SS Untersturmfuhrer and serving with the 42nd SS Standarter (Regiment) which was based in Berlin. On the 9.11.1936 he was promoted to SS Obersturmfuhrer. By mid 1937 he had been presented with the SS officers sword, Himmler honour ring, SA sports badge, DRL sports badge and he was also a member of the SS Lebensborn. By 1937 he was serving with the SS Oberbayern which was based at Dachau and was a part of the Totenkopf Regiment and by 1938 he was serving with the 4th SS Totenkopf Standarter Ostmark which was established at Maunthausen in Austria in 1938, and both of these units were involved with the concentration camp system although many of the younger and fitter officers were latter transferred to Totenkopf Regiment for the invasion of Poland in 1939 and some were involved with massacres in Poland at that time, later they took part in the invasion of France and Russia. Much more could be discovered about this interesting SS officer and it would certainly make an interesting research project. Near mint.

ITALIAN FASCIST 1939 MODEL MVSN OFFICERS DAGGER COMPLETE WITH LEATHER STRAPS.

ITALIAN FASCIST 1939 MODEL MVSN OFFICERS DAGGER COMPLETE WITH LEATHER STRAPS.

Fine detail to the silver aluminium eagles head hilt. The black celluloid grip plates are in mint condition, the obverse side is fitted with the Fascist insignia. The blade is in very nice condition but the very tip has been re-pointed in the past but it is almost impossible to see until pointed out and this is still an exceptionally nice blade. The scabbard still retains 98% original black paint. Complete with 1939 pattern black leather straps which are much harder to find than the type with metal chain hanger (1937 model), the leather shows age and wear but they will still support the dagger, the gilt metal belt clip displays a large gilt metal eagle with large letter M below for the Italian Fascist leader Benito Mussolini, the reverse side of the leather straps feature a stamped makers name. I have priced this dagger considerably lower to what this model dagger normally sells for because of the slight blade issue. Exc++

SS DAGGER 1933 MODEL.

SS DAGGER 1933 MODEL.

This is a good RZM example in very nice condition. The silver hilt fittings are in fine condition. The black wooden grip is in perfect condition and it is inset with silver eagle and the SS runic badge. The blade is also in excellent condition, the obverse side features the SS motto and the reverse side is marked RZM 1198/39 SS, an almost identical dagger is shown in Tom Wittman\'s SS book page 173 and apparently the maker using this code has not been identified. The black painted scabbard is fitted with matching silver fittings, the slight wear on the reverse side of the scabbard suggests that at some time in the past it was fitted with a vertical hanger.
