PERSONALISED NSKK DAGGER 1933 MODEL BY HERDER COMPLETE WITH BLACK THREE PIECE HANGER.

This dagger has a black scabbard and black painted grip, these black daggers are sometimes described as SA / NSKK marine daggers and that is certainly a possibility. All early nickel silver fittings, the lower crossguard reverse side is stamped Nrh which is for the Niederrhein Group. The grip is inset with the SA insignia and silver eagle, the grip has been painted black, in 1936 the NSKK wee ordered to re-paint there scabbards black and apparently from existing examples in collections some also opted to paint the grips black, the reverse side of the grip has been carved with the original owners name, H.Volker. The blade features the SA motto to the obverse side and the reverse side is has the makers name, F.Herder A.S. Solingen with there crossed keys trade mark, there is some faint age spotting to the blade but over all this is still a nice blade. The scabbard is fitted with matching nickel silver fittings and as mentioned above the scabbard was re-pained black in 1936 to conform to the new regulations. The dagger comes complete with original black leather three piece hanger which comprises, hanger, belt loop and grip retaining strap with black button. A very interesting dagger and being named it could make a very interesting research project. Exc+
