GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS DAGGER BY ALCOSO COMPLETE WITH GILT STRAPS AND SPECIAL SMALL SIZE GO PORTEPPE .

This fine set came direct from a small provincial auction and it has never been in a collection before being part of a deceased estate. Fine detail to the eagles head hilt with most original silver plating remaining, the crossguard eagle is extremely nice with a good clear swastika and much better formed than most, Alcoso examples often have a poor defined swastika. The mother of pearl grip plates are in perfect condition. The blade is by Alcoso Solingen featuring there 1938 / 1940 trade mark, the blade has a few age marks but over all it would easily grade Excellent ++ and it is still very nice and certainly a lot better than most. The scabbard still retains all silver plating and it is in fine condition with no dents or damage at all.The internal fittings are all stamped 14.The dagger is complete with its ultra rare extra small Government Official silver portepee knot and rare Government official dagger straps, silver bullion on blue/black velvet backing, the metal fitting still retain about 75% gilt finish (most GO straps have silver metal fittings, gilt was only authorized for high ranking officials). A superb untouched set which has always been together and belonged to one man who was a high ranking Government Official. The set is priced very realistically as i have sold similar sets in the past for considerably more than my asking price and so if you are looking for a GO set this one is great value.[Condition: Exc++]
