VERY RARE LUFTWAFFE NCO'S PEAKED CAP WITH PINK PIPING FOR ENGINEER TROOPS.
Luftwaffe NCO peaked caps with pink piping for engineer troops which is one of the hardest Luftwaffe waffenfarbe branch colours to find, i only recall having one other and that was at least 20 years ago. The hat has a very high front and is of very high quality, Luftwaffe blue top with black ribbed center band with pink piping for engineer troops, complete with aluminum Luftwaffe 2nd pattern cap eagle, cockade and leather chin strap. The interior features gray silk lining with some sweat staining and with full celluloid patch with makers details, JOHANN FREY MUNCHEN, brown leather sweat band has matching makers details. These pink piped Luftwaffe hats are some times referred to as Luftwaffe Panzer NCO caps as the Luftwaffe did have tank units and it is possible that they were issued to these units on a small scale but the official categorization is engineers. The small silver catch that opens the case on a spring hinge is maker marked and silver marked, 900 J.S 3 X, these same marks are also stamped into the interior of the lid and the base. The interior is still fitted with two cloth straps for holding the cigarettes in place, the interior base has an interesting four line presentation inscription, SUTETENFUHRER JULFEST 1943, STABS DER GAULEITUNG SUTETENLAND, it is interesting to note that the first awards of this rare Gau badge was made in December 1943 so this cigarette case was probably awarded at the same time to one of these early party fighters.
