EXTREMLY RARE THIRD REICH ARMY HONOUR BAYONET WITH EAGLE HEAD HILT WITH RED GLASS EYES.
This is one of the rarest of all German bayonets to find and they were awarded by German army Regiments as a 1st prize for marksmanship at a military shooting contest or a similar advent, it is the only example I have ever offered for sale in 35 years and there is probably less than a dozen examples in existence residing in very advanced collections and this is an especially nice example as it has superb provenance and it has also peen published in a highly regarded reference book. Highly detailed silver eagles head hilt, the detail to the feathering is exceptional, the beak of the bird appears extremely aggressive and the eyes are fitted with red glass stones. The crossguard is also highly decorated with a floral pattern and below this is the clamshell featuring an open wing eagle. High quality stag horn grip, the obverse side is fitted with two gilt acorns which cleverly cover the grip rivets. The blade is in mint condition and it is by Paul Wayersberg Solingen who was the only maker of this rare bayonet model. Complete with scabbard which still retains 99% of the original black paint. Complete with black leather frog (the frog was missing when I obtained the bayonet so I have added a very nice example). This actual bayonet is from the famous Dr Milestone collection and it is pictured in the reference book, Collecting the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich by LTC Tomas Johnson, volume 1, page 183, in the book it states that this bayonet has an inscription on the blade but this is incorrect as it actually has a plain plated blade except for the makers name, the author was obviously getting confused with the bayonet on the previous page which is engraved or another bayonet. Comparing the staghorn grip on my bayonet and the one in the book it is obviously the same bayonet as no piece of staghorn is exactly the same, basically it is like a finger print. Except for the German Diplomatic bayonet (two examples known) this is the rarest of all German bayonets with almost certainly less than a dozen in collections world wide. Near mint.
SS DAGGER 1933 MODEL BY RARE MAKER ED GEMBRUCH COMPLETE WITH HANGER AND BELT LOOP.
All early nickel silver fittings, the dagger does not have an SS district stamp something seen occasionally on early SS daggers and interestingly the example shown by this maker in Tom Wittmanns SS book also does not have a district mark. The grip is in excellent condition and it is inset on the obverse side with the silver eagle and the SS runes badge. The blade features the SS motto on the obverse side, the reverse side is maker marked, ED GEMBRUCH SOLINGEN with there fish trade mark, this is a very rare maker to find and I have only had two or three in the past 35 years as a dealer, the blade has a few age marks but over all it is in excellent condition. Black anodized scabbard with matching nickel silver fittings. Complete with black leather hanger and belt loop. EXC++
NAVAL 2ND MODEL E.BOAT BADGE BY SCHWERIN.
This is a very nice 2nd model badge by a very desirable maker, mid war example. The badge still retains at least 95% original gilt finish with excellent detail to the boat and eagle. The reverse side features pin and hook and also the retaining hook at the top of the bade, often this is missing, the badge is maker marked, FEC.W.E.PEEKHAUS BERLIN AUSF.SCHWERIN 68. A difficult badge to find. Exc++
CASED GERMAN EAGLE ORDER 2ND CLASS.
A beautiful award with superb detail to the 4 gilt eagles, the white enamel is 100% mint. The reverse side features pin and hook with 900 silver mark to the pin.Red leatherette box with gilt eagle to the lid, the interior of the case has award details to the lid and the base is fitted for the award. For some strange reason the 2nd class eagle order is a lot harder to find than the 1st class neck order. [Condition: Mint]
ALLGEMEINE SS OTHER RANKS FORAGE CAP.
A fine quality and rare Allgemeine SS overseas hat. Black wool hat with SS eagle machine stitched to the side of the hat, attached to the front of the hat is the SS metal button featuring the SS skull,The reverse side has the correct SS & RZM markings, the button is held in place by a metal S clip which is the correct method for securing the SS button to this model hat. The interior of the hat shows light wear and it has all the marking you would like to see on one of these rare hats, SS RZM Feldmutze label, size stamping 59 and VA 1938 stamp. This is a very nice SS cap which comes from a very old and long established SS collection. [Condition: Near Mint]
BRITISH BRASS FIREMAN\'S HELMET WITH DISTRICT NAMED HELMET PLATE.
The helmet dates to about 1900 and it is the typical British fire brigade style, it is especially nice as it has never been cleaned and it is still complete with all original fittings. Brass skull in fine condition and fitted with comb decorated with a dragon's to each side. Brass leather backed chin chain, large brass helmet plate with district fire service abbreviation, HUDC FB which could be Hungerford District Council Fire Brigade but this is only speculation as there are a number of possibility's.Complete with original leather liner. ANTIQUE AMERICAN COLT 1849 MODEL PERCUSSION POCKET REVOLVER.
A very nice example of this famous antique pistol with 4 inch barrel. The revolver is in good working order with all parts having matching numbers 114657, the frame is stamped Colts patent. The barrel is marked, ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY. The five shot cylinder is engrave with the stage coach design and with matching issue number. The wooden grip plates are in excellent condition with no chips or damage. A very nice example of this iconic pistol. Exc++
LUFTWAFFE NCO PEAK CAP FOR A FLIGHT UNIT.
Fine quality blue wool top with black ribbed centre band and with yellow piping which was used by Luftwaffe flight units and also the paratroopers. Complete with aluminium cockade and eagle and black leather chin strap which is held in place by two small black buttons. The interior features brown sweat band which is in perfect condition, gold silk lining and celluloid patch which is marked in silver, Deutsch Wert Arbeit. A nice looking high quality cap in near mint condition.
ALLGEMEINE SS NCO PEAKED CAP.
A fine looking example with a good high front in the clasic style. Black wool top with black centre band and white piping, the black visor has some age crazing but no damage. Complete with fine quality silver plated SS eagle and skull, black leather chin strap of the correct SS pattern which is held in place by two small black side buttons. The brown leather sweat band is in perfect condition, the underside has the remains of the RZM label but most of it is now missing and interestingly it is the early white type used until about 1938, the interior lining is the typical brown type and it now has several age cracks but no missing material, celluloid patch is 95% complete with large gold SS runes and also size marked 57.The under side of the peak has SS RZM marks but they are very faint and they are inside two small circles at each end of the visor which is slightly different to often seen but I have seen this type before. A superb looking Allgemeine SS cap which was originally discovered in an antique shop in North Wales in the 1980's and has been in one collection since that time. Exc++
CASED GERMAN CROSS IN GOLD BY ZIMMERMANN IN NEAR MINT CONDITION.
This is a superb example of the German cross in gold which was a high award for bravery.The black enamel swastika is in mint condition, almost all gold remaining to the wreath and factory blacking remaining to the outer starburst design.The reverse side features four silver securing rivets with pin and hook assembly, the reverse side of the pin is stamped 20 which is the makers code for C.F.Zimmermann. Complete with original black leatherette issue box showing just light age wear.This is a really nice example which would be difficult to improve on so if you are looking for one of these rare awards i am sure you will be happy with this one.
