SUPERB QUALITY THIRD REICH SILVER GILT AND ENAMEL CARD CASE DECORATED WITH SWASTIKAS.
This card case was produced by an Austrian jeweller during the late 1930's or early 1940's and it has silver marks to the inside, the quality is exceptional and it obviously would have belonged to someone of great importance connected to the NSDAP, possibly a high ranking political leader or even some one like Hermann Goring as the quality is is just exceptional. The box lid is decorated with four blue enamel bands each one decorated with eight gold swastikas so 32 in total. These blue enamel bands are separated with three gilt stripes each decorated with a gilt floral design. The four corners of the box are produced in black enamel and are decorated also with a single gilt leaf, the four outer borders of the box are also decorated with a matching floral designs. The sides of the box are produced in fine blue enamel as is the base. The interior lid and base of the box both have a set of matching Austrian silver marks which comprise, birds head (The Hoopoe bird introduced in 1922 as the Austrian precious metal mark, in the same way as the lion is the British precious metal mark), the second mark I believe is the makers mark, it is then stamped 935 for the silver content and which is the highest grade of Austrian silver, it is then marked Sterling and 42 which could be the year date. An outstanding box of exceptional quality. Mint.

The gorget shows light wear and age and it has never been in a collection as it was purchased privately.
