SA DAGGER 1933 MODEL GROUND ROHM BY EICKHORN WITH TIGER STRIPE GRIP.
This is an especially nice ground Rohm as many parts of the letters from the inscription are still visible. Early nickel silver fitting have an attractive age patina as they have not been cleaned for a very long time, the lower crossguard is stamped Ha for the Hansa SA group, the underside of the crossguard is stamped 4 which is the Eickhorn bench number (these numbers are only seen on Eickhorn daggers).The brown wooden grip is especially attractive as it is tiger striped, this was an extra cost deluxe option offered by some factory's, I have seen this occasionally but normally only on early daggers or rare dagger such as honor daggers, the grip is inset with the SA insignia and the silver eagle, there is a faint line to the top of the obverse side of the grip because the hilt was overtightened in the past, I have released the screw slightly so this should vanish over time as the grip returns to its original state, there is no missing wood or cracks, it is a very nice grip. The blade displays the ALLES FUR DEUTSCHLAND motto on the obverse side, the reverse side has been ground to remove the offending Rohm inscription, but it was a half hearted attempt as the top and bottom of many of the letters are still visible and the small oval Eickhorn trade mark is still perfect and complete, there are a few small age marks on the blade but over all this is still an extremely nice blade. The brown anodized scabbard shows some age wear and speckling to the finish, the fittings are nickel silver and they have a matching age patina which perfectly matches the hilt fittings. A really nice dagger that must have seen some history and the tiger striped grip and Rohm blade makes it just that bit more special. Exc ++
LAND CUSTOMS OFFICERS DAGGER BY HORSTER.
This is a scarce and very desirable all aluminium example, most customs dagger which you find are produced in a mixture of aluminium and steel fittings so the all aluminium type are hard to find. Fine detail to the Aluminium customs pommel and eagle which has the correct up-turn to the tip of the eagle wings which is a feature of the customs crossguard. Excellent condition green leather grip slightly faded with sweat from the hand and age, but some green leather polish would easily bring the colour back. Near mint blade by Horster Solingen. The scabbard retains all original green leather just showing very light wear, the three matching aluminium fittings are in excellent condition with the lines only on the obvers side which is what we like to see. A very nice customs dagger. Exc++
LUFTWAFFE PARATROOPERS NCO PEAK CAP.
Luftwaffe blue wool body with black center band and yellow piping.Complete with 2nd pattern metal luftwaffe eagle and cockade and complete with black leather chin strap which is held in place by two side buttons.The interior features brown cloth lining with celluloid patch with makers details which are now faded and difficult to make out, it is also size marked.The leather sweat band is in perfect condition and the underside is stamped in black letters for the 1st Paratroopers Regiment, 1/Fallsch Jager Rgt 1.The hat is in extremely nice condition with just a few small moth nips and few tiny stains which could be cleaned if required. Most yellow piped Luftwaffe hats are for flight crews, it is rare to find one to the paratroopers. [Condition: Exc++]
THIRD REICH DELUX SENIOR HUNTING OFFICIALS DAGGER BY EICKHORN WITH FROG AND KNOT.
This is one of the hardest Third Reich dagger to find, the standard issue Hunting dagger is difficult to find but the deluxe pattern is extremely rare and seldom comes up for sale, there are also only two makers of the deluxe version, Eichkorn and Alcoso, the senior deluxe version is also considerably shorter than the standard model. Stag horn grip is of exceptional quality and it is complete with silver organization badge correctly attached to the grip, it features a stag head with swastika and letters DJ. The silver pommel cap is decorated with acorns and oak leaves, the crossguard is designed as a pair of stags hoofs with oakleaf decoration, the clamshell features a large bird on a branch. The blade is in excellent condition with some faint age marks and it is triple etched with various forestry designs, such as dog attacking a wild boar, hunter with rifle, stags in a forest and all set in a foliage panel, the reverse side features the stamped Eickhorn Solingen trade mark and being the 1935 / 41 pattern, even the spine of the blade is etched. The green leather scabbard is in fine condition and it is fitted with two matching silver fittings, the lower fitting is the special deluxe type which features a large stag in foliage design. Complete with difficult to find hunting frog and rare silver and green bullion hunting association portepee, this rare portepee is similar to the forestry pattern but the hunting model is much harder to find. All metal fittings have an attractive black age patina as the dagger has never been cleaned, but the silver fittings would clean to near mint if required. Over the last 35+ years as a dealer in militaria I have owned only three or four of these rare daggers, they are exceedingly hard to find, especially when complete with hanger and knot. POSTSCHUTZE LEADERS DAGGER BY WAYERSBERG WITH DRP ISSUE STAMPS AND CHAIN HANGER.
This is a very nice example of a postal Officers dagger, this example is especially desirable as it is an early production example with issue stamps to the under side of the crossguard, latter examples are plain with out issue stamps. All early quality silver hilt fittings, the unique postal crossguard features two black enamel swastikas and these are both in perfect condition, the underside is issue stamped, DRP 1079. The fine quality black wooden grip is also in fine condition and it is fitted with the Postschutze insignia, a silver eagle and swastika with six lightning sparks. The matching scabbard is also in fine condition with at least 98% original paint remaining and it is fitted with three matching silver fittings. Near mint blade by Paul Wayersberg Solingen. Complete with chain hanger, the reverse side of the clip is marked DRGM. The Postschutze was established in 1933 to protect the German post from attack by enemy's of the state. In 1942 the organization came under the control of the SS and many of senior membership were SS officers, some of the membership was also drafted into the Waffen SS to protect the SS postal delivery's. A very nice example of a rare Postal leaders dagger. Exc ++
ENGLISH ANTIQUE PERCUSSION POCKET PISTOL BY RICHARD HOLLIS LONDON, VERY HIGH QUALITY.
A very high quality English percussion pocket pistol dating to about 1830. Octagonal barrel with top flat side engraved in script, Richard Hollis. Highly engraved metal side mounts with matching engraving to the cock which is in perfect working order, the sliding safety catch is also engraved. Walnut grip with fine checkering with inset silver escutcheon, silver lidded butt cap for holding spare percussion caps which is also highly engraved. Concealed trigger which is released when the gun is cocked, the under side of the frame and barrel have various proof marks and it is also engraved RH. Richard Hollis was a gun maker based in London and was in business under this name from 1817 - 1831, after that date the company was know as Richard Hollis and Son, this is a very early percussion pistol dating from the first period of the company before his son joined the business. A very nice high quality pistol. [Condition: Exc++]
IMPERIAL GERMAN S98 MODEL SAW BACK BAYONET COMPLETE WITH LEATHER FROG AND KNOT.
This is a scarce bayonet and originally it would have had a much longer blade and scabbard but many of these were shortened and then re-issued making it a much more practical bayonet for wartime service. Steel hilt is in excellent condition and the riffle slot is still in perfect working order, the reverse side of the pommel has imperial waffen amp stamps. Brown wooden grip plates are in perfect condition. The very impressive saw-back blade is by Alex Coppel Solingen and the blade spine has waffen amp stamps and it measures approximately 25cm long. Black leather scabbard with matching steel fittings. Complete with black leather frog and blue and white imperial German portepee knot. A very nice and interesting set. [Condition: Exc++]
IMPERIAL GERMAN DELUX QUALITY NAVAL OFFICERS DAGGER BELONGING TO CAPTAIN EHLERS.
Superb deluxe naval officers dagger belonging to Captain Gustav Ehlers with a fascinating history connected to England, he took part in the naval attack on several English coastal towns in 1914. Open crown brass pommel and Imperial style crossguard still retain traces of the original gilt finish. Beautiful bone grip has several old hairline cracks which are normally seen on these grips. Superb matching private purchase scabbard features panels of oakleaves and acorns and it is extremely attractive and in fine condition. The fine quality damascuse blade is in superb condition and it is the maiden hair style, the detail to the blade is exceptional, the obverse side of the blade is beautifully engraved, BIELER S/L EHLERS (Bieler presented the dagger to his dear friend Ehlers). Captain Ehlers was born on the 14.12.1885, he joined the German navy on the 6.4.1904 which interestingly was the same date as Bieler also Joined. Ehlers was promoted to Lieutenant on 28.9.1907, senior Lieutenant on the 16.10.09 and Captain on the 17.10.1915. He served on a number of Battleships before WW1 and in early 1914 was Inspector of the naval school at Flensberg. In August 1914 he became the Captain of the Cruiser Hamburg serving as the flagship and part of the escort for the north sea U.boat flotilla. On the 15th and 16th of December 1914 the Hamburg participated in the naval bombardment of the English towns of, Scarborough, Hartlepool and Whitby in which much damage was inflicted on the towns with 592 casualties, of whom 137 died, the attack caused public outrage towards the German navy for an attack mostly conducted against civilians,private buildings and homes. During the battle of Jutland in 1916 the Hamburg was a part of the scouting group. On the 28th of August 1916 Ehlers was awarded the iron cross 1st class. From 3.3.1917 Ehlers served at the naval torpedo school for several months, he then served on a number of ships until the end of WW1 and was with the fleet at Scape Flow when the German naval fleet was scuttled. Checking the 1914 / 1918 naval rank list there is only one officer by the name of Bieler listed but several named Ehlers, but i can say for certainty that the dagger belonged to, Kapitanleutnant Gustav Ehlers, the reason for this is that Bieler and Ellers joined the navy on the same date and strangely even many of there promotions were on the same date, the other offers named Ehlers were much younger officers and almost certainly had no contact with Bieler. Captain Bieler served as a U.Boat officer and during WW1 as mentioned above Captain Ehlers served on the cruiser Hamburg as the escort captain for the North sea U.Boats which Bieler was probably also serving with, this is probably just a coincidence but still interesting.The dagger comes with some research concerning Kapitanleutnant Gustave Ellers. This is a dagger with historical importance because of the connection to the attack on the coastal towns of England and so this dagger should probably be on display in a museum in England, especially perhaps Scarborough town museum. RARE THIRD REICH DELUXE MODEL NAVAL OFFICERS DAGGER BY WKC WITH RARE PRIVATE PURCHASE SCABBARD.
This is a superb high quality deluxe private purchase naval officers dagger. The superb orange grip is in mint condition. The crossguard and eagle pommel still retain some original gilt finish with good detail to the swastika. The blade is by WKC and it is in near mint condition, it etched with dolphin and fouled anchor design. The beautiful scabbard is really a work of art, the reverse and obverse sides have matching decoration comprising of five panels of acorns and oakleaves to each side and even the two suspension rings are decorated, the quality and condition is outstanding. Complete with original gold knot. If you are looking for a very special naval officers dagger then this is probably it. Condition: Near Mint
WW2 GERMAN BAR TO THE IRON CROSS 1ST CLASS, RARE SCREW BACK EXAMPLE.
This is a rare private purchase screw back example. This superb bar still retains almost all silver frosted finish. The reverse side is fitted with a screw post and it still retains its original circular disk and screw fitting. The badge is not maker marked, a fine example purchased privately and it has never been in a collection. Screw back examples are extremely hard to find. Near Mint
