A VERY RARE SILVER CIGAR BOX PRESENTED TO HERMANN GORING IN 1936.

A superb and very large 800 silver marked cigar / cigarette box presented to Hermann Goring as a birthday gift in 1936.The lid of the box features Hermann Goring's family coat of arms in a raised silver shield being an armored fist holding a ring. The front of the box features a three line presentation inscription, HERMANN GORING, VON DEM MANNER DES EHEMALIGEN J.GESCHWADER RICHTHOFENEN 12.1.1936, basically this translates as a gift to Hermann Goring from the men of the fighter squadron Richthofen, this was Herman Goring flight unit during WW1 and was often referred to as the flying circus because of there brightly colored planes, after the Red Barron's death he became the commander of the unit and held this position until the end of the war. The Richthofen unit was re-instated in 1935, soon after the the creation of the Luftwaffe. The base of the box is leather lined and it is 800 silver marked on the bottom silver edge, when the box is opened it reveals a wooden internal lid with a hinged silver handle and two silver securing catches, all three of these fittings are 800 silver marked. The interior of the box is wood lined with a single adjustable wooden panel for resizing the box for cigars and cigarettes. An important historical item belonging to one of the most famous personalty's of WW2 and probably the 20th century. The box has a nice age patina as it has not been cleaned for a very long time. PAUL MULLER DAMASCUSE LETTER OPENER.

PAUL MULLER DAMASCUSE LETTER OPENER.

This interesting letter opener or miniature hunting dagger with damascuse blade was originally purchased by the well known author LTC Tom Johnson in the late 1980's direct from the Paul Muller family along with other edged weapons and how he obtained these items is fully described in one of his reference books. The simulated ivory handle is silver inlaid on the obverse side with a stag in a band of oakleaves and acorns, the reverse side is beautifully inset with silver inlay which incorporates the initials KM, this is probably the initials of Mullers wife or a close relative, further research is required to confirm this. The pommel and crossguard are constructed of plated steel. The blade is produced of beautiful damascuse steel of the finest quality. Paul Muller is probably the most famous damascuse sword smiths of the Third Reich period and one of the most desirable for collectors, he formed a contract with the SS to produce blades for the organization and established a sword smithy in 1938 near Dachau, his most famous work is with out doubt the SS birthday swords with presentation damascuse blades that easily sell when occasionally available for in excess of $200,000, the example i am offering is a lot more affordable. Complete with with original photograph and photocopy supplied by LTC Johnson when the knife originally became available in the late 1980's. A unique opportunity to obtain a knife with damascuse blade by this renowned damascuse smith at an affordable price. [Condition: Mint]

SA DAGGER 1933 MODEL BY KNECHT COMPLETE WITH RARE BROWN LEATHER VERTICAL FROG HANGER.

SA DAGGER 1933 MODEL BY KNECHT COMPLETE WITH RARE BROWN LEATHER VERTICAL FROG HANGER.

All early nickel silver fittings, the lower crossguard reverse side is SA group stamped No.The brown wooden grip is in superb condition and it is inset with SA insignia and silver eagle. The blade is in excellent condition, the obverse side features the SA motto and the reverse side features the makers name, Aug Knecht Solingen. Brown anodized scabbard shows light wear but it still has much factory finish remaining, the fittings are matching nickel silver and the lower fitting as a slight dent to the lower ball which they often do, it is very minor and it is not noticeable when displayed and can only be seen when closely examined. Complete with rare original brown leather frog hanger, it is interesting to see how the spring clip has rubbed on to the the reverse side of grip over many years leaving tiny scratches but which is rather nice to see as it shows that it has always been attached to the dagger. SA daggers with rare vertical leather frog hangers are rare and always in demand.

SS OFFICERS SWORD COMPLETE WITH SS KNOT.

SS OFFICERS SWORD COMPLETE WITH SS KNOT.

This really impressive example comes from the famous Barry Brown collection. The most amazing thing about this SS officers sword is the huge size, the original owner must have been a giant of a man, perhaps a guard officer in the LAH, officers from this elite SS Regiment were known at the time for there extreme height. The length of the blade is 37 inches long, the average is normally about 32 / 33 inches long but can often be shorter than this, the total length of the sword when it is in its scabbard is 44 inches, this truly is a huge sword and it is the longest example I have owned or even seen in over 35 years of dealing and collecting. The grip is in perfect condition and is complete with the silver metal SS runic badge. The silver metal hilt fittings are also in superb condition, the underside of the crossguard is stamped with the SS acceptance stamp. The pommel is the special SS style which screws into the hilt of the sword and not the tang of the blade which is the correct method for an early quality SS sword ( on a police sword the pommel screws into the tang of the blade), the small silver cap which covers the tang of the blade is still in place. The blade is the type with out a makers name but in my opinion these were produced by Krebs, the sword would date to about 1937 period, the white blade buffer pad is still in place, there is some minor age spotting to the lower part of the blade but there is no pitting. The scabbard has platted fittings which is typical for a sword from this period of production, the top silver mount has the SS acceptance stamp, the lower fitting is the preferred SS style with out screws, the original black scabbard paint shows some age but it is still about 85% + still remaining, with out any dents or other damage, this is a very nice looking scabbard. The sword is complete with it's original but well worn SS officers knot, inside the cloth strap in the original cloth SS tag. This is an extremely nice SS officers sword with exceptional collectors provenance and if you are looking for an SS sword I highly recommend it, the size alone makes it a fascinating example.
