U.BOAT U.615 CAPTAINS TURTLE PAPPERWEIGHT.

A superb large hand carved wooden turtle paperweight belonging Captain Kapitzky who was the commander of U.615. The turtle was the official mascot of U.boat 615. The base of the tortoise has a presentation inscription, U-615 KPTLT RALPH KAPITZKY 3-U.FI 1.9.1942. Comes with a photocopy photograph of Captain Kapitzky and some research. Kapitanleutnant Kapitzky served in the Kreigsmarine from 1935 until his death as Captain of U.615 in 1943 during an Allied aerial operation against the U-boat which was actually the longest lasting attack by aircrafts on a U-boat during WW2, the battle lasting over one week.
