BRITISH WW1 GRENADE INK WELL.

This is a WW1 British grenade that has been professionally converted into an ink well. The top of the Mills type grenade lifts on a small hinge and reveals a white stoneware holder for ink. The grenade sits on a black metal standish with moulded pen rests and with title to the front, MEMENTO OF THE GREAT WAR ACTUAL HAND GRENADE CASTING AS USED BY THE ALLIES, the reverse side is marked, REGD NO 651542 1915. The base of the standish also has a registration number and also a second number which is probably a manufactures code. This ink well would look great on a collectors desk. Mint.
