THIRD REICH ORANGE GRIP NAVAL OFFICERS DAGGER BY WKC WITH SAILING SHIP BLADE, HAMMERED SCABBARD AND GOLD KNOT.
This is a very early example probably produced in 1935 or soon after. Beautiful very dark orange grip, there is one tiny and insignificant old chip just below the pommel but it is completely covered by the knot (please see photographs). Fine detail to the eagle pommel which retains much original gilt finish and it it was probably a change over pommel as the dagger was almost certainly issued with a flame ball pommel but this would have been changed with the introduction of the new style pommel in 1938. The crossguard also still retains much gilt finish. The blade is by WKC Solingen and it is etched with the scarce sailing ship design which is often seen on early production WKC daggers, there is some faint age spotting to the blade but the etching is still clear and the blade is bright. it is still a very nice blade. The hammered scabbard still retains much gilt finish, the scabbard bands are the slim style often seen on early production WKC scabbards, there is an extremely minor dent to the tip of the scabbard, almost just a ripple in the brass shell. Complete with gold naval knot. This is a really attractive and very interesting naval officers dagger. Exc++
