SA DAGGER 1933 MODEL BY BECKER (THE CHEF).
This example was purchased privately from a contact in the antique trade and it has never been in a collection and has an attractive age patina to the exterior metal fittings as it has not been cleaned. All early nickel silver fittings, the lower crossguard reverse side is stamped No for the Nordsee SA group. The fine quality brown wooden grip is inset with SA insignia and silver eagle, there is a very small flake from the bottom of the grip but it is very minor. The blade is by the scarce maker Gebr Becker Solingen with the superb trade mark of a chef holding a large knife and fork, the obverse side features the SA motto and it is still very nice and bright, the reverse side has been ground possibly to remove an inscription but this is unusual as Becker is not known to have produced Rohm daggers so it there was an inscription it was probably a personal dedication that has been removed which possibly identified the original owner but there is no trace of it now, just scratches and grind marks and it has not damaged the makers trade mark. Brown anodised scabbard shows age and wear with light rust marks and it is fitted with matching nickel silver fittings, one screw is now missing from the lower mount but the other three are still in place.
