THIRD REICH K98 BAYONET WITH POST WAR LUFTWAFFE ETCHED BLADE.

This is an original German WW2 K98 combat bayonet but in the 1960's it was altered by having the blade etched with a presentation inscription, in the 1960's this was a way of making a slow selling item much more desirable, almost all services and units were offered at the time. Brown wooden grip plates. Silver pommel with original waffen amp stamps, it is also engraved post war with a large swastika. The crossguard is stamped H1832. The blade is in mint condition and it is etched on the obverse side, LUFTWAFFE LEGION CONDOR 1936, the reverse side is etched, KAMERADENSCHAFT SPANIEN and then etched with a large swastika. Complete with black painted scabbard. Although the blade is post war etched these bayonets have become very collectable in recent years. Exc++
