POSTSCHUTZ LEADERS DAGGER BY WAYERSBERG.
This is a superb near mint example of a Postal leaders dagger and it is one of the nicest examples that I have ever offered for sale. The silver metal hilt fittings retain almost all silver plating with no damage to the black enamel crossguard swastikas, the under side of the crossguard is stamped DRP 1615, only early production examples have issue stamps, latter example are plain with out stamps. The black wooden grip is in perfect condition and it is complete with postal badge. The blade is by Paul Wayersberg Solingen and it is in mint condition, this is a very impressive blade. The scabbard retains 99% original black paint and it is fitted with matching silver plated fittings which are also in exceptional condition. Complete with chain hanger, the reverse side of the spring clip is correctly marked DRGM. There is a standard silver knot attached to the grip of the dagger which apparently is original to this dagger but it not the rare orange flecked type which were probably only for those of very high rank. During the war the Postschutz became under the control of the SS and all Postschutz officers were also members of the SS. This is a superb example and probably the best you will ever find. Near mint.
