UNIQUE PROTYPE THIRD REICH ARMY CAVALRY OFFICERS SWORD BY HORSTER.

Superb quality brass lions head hilt fitted with red glass eyes, the detail to the lions head is superb, the knuckle bow and back strap are decorated with ornate foliage, the crossguard features shield with crossed cavalry sabres and below this a very large swastika, this design is probably unique and it is the first time I have seen the cavalry pattern incorporating the swastika. The tip of the crossguard features a highly detailed miniature lions head. The black celluloid grip is in mint condition. The blade is also in mint condition and the reverse side features a stamped oval Horster Solingen trade mark (under the crossguard and very difficult to photograph). The scabbard paint shows light age wear. This is probably an army prototype sword or at least a special order sword, it probably never went into full production and I do not believe this model sword is pictured in any of the reference books.
