DLV / LUFTWAFFE 1ST MODEL DAGGER BY GEBR HELLER.
This is the rare model produced in 1935 with scabbard mounts held in place by large metal staples rather than screws, this was the initial production model and very similar construction to what you find on the rare 55cm DLV dagger. All early nickel silver fittings are in fine condition with brass swastika disks to pommel and crossguard. The blue leather grip is in fine condition. The blade is maker marked on the reverse side, Gebr Heller Marienthal b Schweina/Thr with there desirable balloon man trade mark, there is some faint age marks to the blade but over all it is still extremely nice. The scabbard is the solid leather type with out a metal shell, there are a few bumps to the leather shell from the movement of the internal scabbard springs over many years, a nice and desirable feature to see with these very early daggers, the three matching nickel silver mounts are held in place with large metal staples on the reverse side of each fitting, latter produced daggers used screws. Complete with matching nickel silver chain, the reverse side of the spring clip is marked, DRGM 926719, this marking is often found on spring clips of very early Luftwaffe daggers and the DLV 55cm dagger.
