MAGNIFICENT AND VERY LARGE BRONZE MODEL OF WW1 FRENCH FIELD GUN WITH 3 MAN CREW.
This very large bronze model is by Georges Omerth and dates from WW1 or just after, Omerth is a well respected French bronze artist who specialised in military subjects and also young attractive lady's. This fabulous early 20th century bronze group study is signed Omerth and is known as, Soldats au Cannon. The model depicts a large field gun with three man crew, two are enlisted men and the third is an offer and all three are in full French military uniform, the office is actually wearing a sword. The detail to the soldiers and the field gun is remarkable, laying at the base of the field gun are the remains of warfare, a discarded German pickelhaube helmet and broken rifle. This bronze model sits on a marble base (slight chip to marble to the reverse side). A truly magnificent antique bronze. Size 20 inches long and 10 inches in height or 51 x 25cm with nice age patination. Near mint condition.
