THIRD REICH NAVAL SWORD WITH GOLD KNOT.

The superb lions head hilt and folding guard still retain much original gilt finish, the detail to the lions head is exceptional. The folding guard reverse side is stamped with issue number O.1691, this shows that it was a sword that was held in the naval stores and could be issued to officers and certain high ranking NCO's when required. The white celluloid grip is in perfect condition. The blade is in mint condition and it is by Eickhorn Solingen and features there 1933/35 double oval trade mark that confirms that the sword is of the early Third Reich period. Black leather scabbard is in fine condition and it is fitted with three matching gilt brass metal mounts, the upper fitting reverse side is stamped with issue number O.1691, this issue number matches the sword issue stamp. The lower mount is stamped with the marine issue mark being an eagle and letter M. Complete with gold bullion naval sword knot. A very nice impressive sword, Exc++
