GERMAN 2ND MODEL RAILWAY LEADERS DAGGER WITH UNIT ENGRAVED BLADE, COMPLETE WITH HANGERS AND KNOT.

The black celluloid grip is in mint condition. The silver aluminium pommel displays the swastika and the railway crossguard features the winged wheel design with the manufactures flaw which all original example should exhibit. The blade is still very bright and it is etched on the obverse side, Nr 1 Bz.Hanover, the reverse side is plain with out makers name but the maker is obviously Eickhorn. From research I have discovered one other example with identical blade etching but the issue number is much higher at over 60 and that dagger also does not have a makers name and the fittings are identical to this one, this would suggest that the Hanover Bahnschutz ordered a small quantity of Railway daggers from Eickhorn that were supplied with out a makers mark, the blades were then etched with Hanover unit markings. The Railway scabbard is in fine condition. Complete with rare black and silver brocade railway hangers with oval buckles and railway black and silver knot. A beautiful and important set. Near mint.
