THIRD REICH K98 BAYONET WITH MATCHING NUMBERS.

This interesting K98 combat bayonet has been silver plated possibly during the original wearing period but why I have no idea but the plating is certainly very old and shows age. The brown wooden grip plates are in perfect condition. The hilt and crossguard have been plated but the rifle button and back strap are blued steel, the reverse side of the hilt has two military waffen amps stamps. The blade has also been plated and it is in near mint condition, the spine is stamped 37 for the year it was manufactured, the blade is stamped 8295, then on the reverse side S/175. The scabbard has also been plated and it is still in very nice condition just showing light age, the obverse side is stamped 8295 which matches the blade issue number, there is an issue mark on the reverse side of the scabbard but it is difficult to make out now. A very interesting German K98 combat bayonet but if it was plated in 1937 or 1957 it is difficult to be certain but the plating is certainly old and it is a very interesting Third Reich bayonet worthy of further research, Exc++
