LUFTWAFFE FORESTRY BAYONET / SIDARM BY WAFFEN LOESCHE BERLIN COMPLETE WITH FROG HANGER.
This is a very rare Third Reich side arm. Hermann Goring formed a forestry service to manage Luftwaffe forestry reserves close to air force installations and also his own hunting estates such as Carenhall and it believed that these rare sidearms were carried by members of this small elite organisation. These side arms resemble a bayonet but they do not have a fitment for attachment to a rifle so they can only be used as a hunting knife or parade sidearm. This example has beautiful quality staghorn grip which look even higher quality than normal. The blade is stamped on the obverse side Waffen Loesche Berlin, the reverse side is stamped Ch.A.W and the spine is stamped H which are the marks you expect to see on this rare sidearms, there are some age marks to the blade from use but it is still very bright and impressive. The scabbard retains 85% original black paint. Complete with brown leather Luftwaffe frog which is also in very nice condition. Exc++
