Large silver basket hilt of the Scottish style still retaining the red insert liner, the handle is covered with fish skin, large ornate silver pommel. The blade is double etched but it does show some age spotting. Brown leather service scabbard, some wear to the tip. Complete with brown leather frog hanger, attached to the hanger is the original spare service crossguard (the hilts of these swords are interchangeable depending on the occasion).The sword originally belonged to Captain John Hay who served during WW1 with the Cameron Highlanders and then with the Machine Gun Corps.
