Large silver basket hilt of the Scottish style still retaining the red insert liner, the handle is covered with fish skin, large ornate silver pommel. The blade is double etched but it does show some age spotting, the upper portion of the sword bears a factory presentation inscription to, Captain J.Hay of the cameron Highlanders, the inscription is now worn and faint but can be seen if carefully examined. Brown leather service scabbard, some wear to the tip. Complete with brown leather frog hanger, attached to the hanger is the original spare service crossguard (the hilts of these swords are interchangeable depending on the occasion). Captain John Hay served during WW1 with the Cameron Highlanders and then with the Machine Gun Corps, he was awarded the War medal and Victory medal one of which is for sale on the site. Exc++
