BRITISH 1831 PATTERN GENERALS SWORD.

A very attractive Generals sword of the mameluke style, this example probably dating to the 1930's. The ornate crossguard still retains some gilt finish with the central deign of crossed General baton and sword. The grip is produced in white celluloid which helps date the sword as Victorian and early 20th century examples will have ivory grip plates, the celluloid although white originally has now aged over time to an attractive cream colour. The impressive blade is double etched with floral designs and also the Royal coat of arms, the blade also has the official British proof mark, there are a few black age marks mostly close to the spine of the blade but this is still an extremely nice blade. The attractive brass scabbard is fitted with two scabbard bands and hanging rings, there is some slight wear close the scabbard bands but it is very minor. A very attractive and scarce British Generals sword. [Condition: Exc++]
