A MOST UNUSUAL PROBABLY UNIQUE GERMAN HUNTING DAGGER.

This is a really impressive and attractive dagger which was possibly a special order as in over 40 years collecting and dealing in German daggers and militaria i have never seen this pattern before.Impressive stag horn grip plates are formed at the hilt to represent a birds head the upper grip rivet acting as the eye, the tip of the grip is formed to represent a birds beak which is reminiscent of the RAD dagger hilt.The silver metal grip ferrule is decorated with a number of deeply engraved lines, the silver metal crossguard is most unusual as it is flat and oval in design, i have never seen a crossguard on a hunting dagger like this before, it is simple but still very attractive. The impressive steel blade measures just under 12 inches in length and it is in excellent condition, it is plain with out decoration or a makers name and i am sure would be very lethal in defense or for dispatching an injured animal. Black leather scabbard with matching silver scabbard fittings, the upper fitting has two decorative side attachments for attaching a frog and it is also fitted with a skinning knife.The skinning knife is also very attractive and the maker has selected a superb section of staghorn for the handle. The steel blade is in excellent condition and it is marked, Silber Stee. The dagger is complete with its original brown leather hanger with fitted leather belt, the belt is complete and it has not been shortened but it is very short so how it attaches i have no idea.The knife is very reminiscent of the rare and desirable Third Reich Dula hunting knife & this dagger would look superb displayed with one of those and would certainly be a unique set. This hunting knife would be ideal in the field for defense from attacking animals but also for dispatching an injured animal, it is very attractive in design and so it would also be ideal at a formal gatherings of hunters such as at a Hunting contest / parade.
