THIRD REICH NAVAL OFFICERS SWORD BY EICKHORN COMPLETE WITH ORIGINAL SWORD BAG.
This example is from the Third Reich period and is in exceptional condition and still in full gilt. Superb detail to the gilt lions head hilt, the folding guard on the obverse side features a large fouled anchor design, the folding locking guard on the reverse side is issue stamped O.36020.The white celluloid grip for once is in perfect condition, often these are cracked but not this one.The long impressive blade is stamped with the Eickhorn Solingen 1935/41 trade mark so we can date this example to the Third Reich period which often you can not do with a naval sword, the blade would rate near mint condition with just a few age marks. The beautiful scabbard has matching fittings which are also in full gilt, the black scabbard leather shows some attractive age crazing to the surface but no dents or damage, this is a really nice scabbard. The sword is complete with it's original sword bag, this is not a factory issued bag but a sword bag that the original owner has made to hold and protect the sword which it certainly has and it is rather interesting and unique and very nicely constructed. A very fine set in beautiful condition. [Condition: Near Mint]
