A very nice WW1 Scottish officers highland pattern basket hilt sword. Large silver plated basket hilt of the Scottish style in fine condition and still complete with red cloth insert showing a few old moth nips and the hilt cloth tassels which are now a little worn and fragile from age. Long double etched blade of Scottish designs with GEORGE V royal cipher and makers name, ANDERSON & SONS Ltd, 14 GEORGE St, EDINBURGH and with issue number 7453 (it might be possible to research the original owner from this number if the sale files still exist from this company), there is some minor age spotting to the blade but over all this is still a very nice blade. Complete with matching leather service scabbard with silver metal lower mount. This is a very nice sword, original examples of these Scottish swords are very difficult to find now. [Condition: Exc++]
