A very nice Antique pocket pistol by this important and very collectible English gun maker dating to about 1780.Short stubby barrel with good set of proof marks, the frame is decorated with floral designs and it is engraved with the makers name, TWIGG LONDON.The flint lock is in good working order and it is fitted with a sliding safety catch. Brown wooden chequered grip with silver escutcheon with owners initials. The case is a very nice later addition probably from when the gun was sold second hand during the early Victorian period, the case is fitted for the pistol and has a number of lead balls and also a very small copper and brass powder flask maker marked Sykes.The interior of the lid has gun dealers paper trade label, R.ESSEX DEALER OF GUNS AND PISTOLS NO 221 STRAND (LONDON), A GREAT CHOICE OF NEW AND SECOND HAND GOODS OF EXCELLENT WORKMANSHIP, VERY GOOD PRICES FOR READY MONEY ONLY.
